Do you agree with Kevin Hollinrake that Nick Read was paid a lot while not doing a good job as the chief executive of the Post Office?

Kevin Hollinrake, the UK business minister, criticized Nick Read's tenure as CEO of the Post Office, especially due to his substantial pay amidst unresolved challenges within the organization. This criticism came as the Post Office grappled with the repercussions of the Horizon scandal, which saw wrongful prosecutions of over 700 subpostmasters due to faulty accounting software.

Many MPs, along with Hollinrake, voiced frustration that Read, who earned around £816,000 in salary and bonuses, was still seeking further pay raises amid the fallout and ongoing compensation delays for the affected subpostmasters.

Hollinrake argued that further pay increases would be unjustified given the Post Office's unresolved issues and Read's oversight. This sentiment was echoed by others who found the requested raise inappropriate, given the ongoing need for structural and reputational recovery at the Post Office, which still faces public scrutiny and pressure to resolve these long-standing problems.

Read's role remains under investigation, and public confidence in his leadership has been questioned due to these factors.
